We're a small but fast-growing company based in South Wales, working on exciting high voltage infrastructure projects across the UK. As part of our continued growth, we're looking for a High Voltage Commissioning Engineer to join our close-knit, supportive team.

About the role

You will play a critical role in the testing and commissioning of electrical systems from 11kV up to 132kV, working across a range of grid connections, substations, renewable energy projects and industrial installations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation and execution of commissioning plans and procedures
  • Functional testing of HV equipment including transformers, switchgear, protection relays and SCADA systems
  • Fault finding and diagnostics
  • Site documentation and reporting
  • Liaising with clients, DNOs, ICPs and project managers

Essential qualifications and certifications

  • HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Senior Authorised Person (SAP), or demonstrable experience working under an SAP on HV networks
  • G99/G59 testing and commissioning knowledge
  • National Grid Person/BESC certification, or a willingness to obtain it
  • ECS/CSCS card
  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) — desirable
  • First Aid at Work and Manual Handling, current or valid

Required experience and expertise

  • Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience in high voltage commissioning (11kV–132kV)
  • Experience working on DNO, ICP, IDNO or private HV networks
  • Familiarity with protection relay configuration and secondary injection testing (e.g. Omicron, Megger)
  • Sound knowledge of commissioning procedures, electrical safety regulations and risk assessment
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong documentation, reporting and communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, with a solution-driven approach
